Ring Games, World States and Make Your Own: New on Geocore
Geocore has new ways to test what you know about the world. Three ring games ask what lies around a place, the states and provinces of every country now share one map, and Make Your Own lets you decide what each question shows and what you answer. Geo Puzzle gains a mode with no outlines at all. Play any of them on your own, as a daily, or in a lobby with friends, in your browser at geocore.fun/play.

The ring games
Each round draws a ring on the map around a centre, and once you have answered, the ring widens. Choose one, three, five or all eight rings. The sooner you find the answer, the more points you score.
Largest City in the Ring
A centre city sits inside a ring. Type the city with the most people inside the ring and press Enter. You get three guesses a ring, and a city inside the ring that is not the biggest tells you where it ranks. The reveal shows the ring's three biggest cities and their populations.
Tip: read the rank you are given. If your guess ranks third, the answer is bigger than it, so think of the ring's largest country and its biggest city next.

Five Cities a Ring
Name any five cities inside each ring. Each one lights up on the map as soon as you finish its name, and Enter forgives a small typo. Five named, and the ring widens. On Easy only the best-known cities count; on Hard, every city does.
Tip: on Easy, start with capitals and the biggest ports. They are the cities most likely to count.

Most Populous in the Ring
The countries in a ring around a centre country light up on the map. Type the one with the most people. A country in the ring that is not the biggest shows where it ranks, and the reveal shows the ring's three biggest populations.
Tip: the rings grow quickly. Before you guess, scan the lit countries for the largest one by area: it is a good first guess even when it is not the answer, because its rank tells you how much bigger to aim.

Ring Map's rings now grow
Ring Map, where you name every country in a ring, used to cut the world into eight equal slices, so its first ring was already big. Now the first ring is small and each ring is a step larger, sized by Difficulty. Set Ring sizes to Even for the equal slices it had before; your earlier bests stay with Even. Part of Geocore Pro. The world's states and provinces
Every state, province and region of the world now plays on one map: over 3,300 of them, from Bavaria to Sichuan.
- Quizzes for the whole world and for each continent, in Pin, Type, Name them all and Learn. Open the world quiz
- Heatmap: World States: a region is hidden; each guess is shaded by how far it is from the answer. Play it
- Pin Drop: World States: drop a pin inside the region you are asked for. Play it
- World States MCQ: pick the answer from a row of choices, with the region lit on the map, its outline on the card, or its name, in four formats. A name two countries share shows its country, as in "Punjab, Pakistan". Play World States MCQ
- The state games on any map: State Shape to Name, State Name to Shape, State Map to Name and State Map to Shape now play on any country's map, not only the US.
Tip: in World States MCQ the wrong choices come from the same country first. If all four options are German states, you already know which country you are in, so look at where in it the region sits.
Part of Geocore Pro. The four state games stay free with an account on the US map.

Make Your Own
Build the question, then play it. Choose countries, US states or cities; choose what each question shows: a name, a capital, a flag, a shape or the place lit on the map; then choose what you pick from the options. If one of the ready-made games already asks that question, Make Your Own opens that game for you.
Tip: try Shape → Capital. You have to know the country from its outline, then its capital, in one answer.

Geo Puzzle: Build outwards
One piece starts placed on an empty board, with no outline of anything else. The tray offers only the pieces that border what you have built, and islands join through their nearest sea crossing. Drop a piece close to where it belongs to place it; a miss tells you how far off you were, never which way, and after three tries the piece places itself for no points.
Tip: start with the neighbours you know best. Every piece you place adds its own neighbours to the tray.
Playable with no account. Build outwards
Easy, Medium and Hard
Games whose places run from famous to obscure, such as City Pin Drop, Flag Quiz and Capitals, now have one Difficulty setting. Easy asks only well-known places, Medium is the default, and Hard asks from every place. Easy and Medium are free; Hard is part of Geocore Pro.
Playing them with friends
Every game here plays in a lobby. Each player now has a colour, always with their initials, on the standings, the map and the podium. When a round ends, the reveal compares everyone's answers: each pin with its distance, each click, and who picked which option. In First to answer, a place fills in the colour of whoever named it as it happens, and you can send one of eight quick reactions.
